Becoming a pilot in India is a dream shared by many. With the growing demand for commercial pilots, the aviation industry in India is booming, offering numerous opportunities for aspiring pilots. However, the path to becoming a pilot is not an easy one, and it requires hard work, dedication, and commitment. In this article, we’ll guide you through the steps to follow if you’re interested in becoming a pilot in India.

To become a pilot in India, you must meet the following eligibility criteria:

You must be at least 17 years old.

You must have completed your 10+2 with a minimum of 50% marks in physics and maths.

You must have a Class 1 or Class 2 medical certificate issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) according to the license type.

Pilot Scholarship Common Entrance Test is a national level entrance exam for pursuing aviation courses in PAN India.

Pilot Scholarship CET provides DGCA Approved Best Flying School of India.

The next step is to choose a flying school that is approved by the DGCA. There are numerous flying schools in India, offering various courses and training programs. Research and compare different schools, their facilities, course duration, and fees before making a decision.

Once you’ve chosen a flying school, enrol in a pilot training course. The course will consist of ground training, flight training, and simulator training. The duration of the course can vary depending on the type of license you want to obtain.

To obtain a commercial pilot licence, you must complete a minimum of 200 hours of flight time, including 100 hours of solo flying and 50 hours of cross-country flying. You must also pass the DGCA exams, which include the written exam, oral exam, and flight test. If a candidate wants to obtain a Personal Pilot License (PPL) then the flying hours for those is 40 – 50 hrs depending on flying school.

Once you’ve completed the required flight hours and exams, you can apply for a commercial pilot licence from the DGCA. You must also pass a medical examination and meet the age requirements to obtain a commercial pilot licence.

After obtaining your commercial pilot licence, you will need to build flight experience by working as a co-pilot for a minimum of 250 hours. Once you’ve gained enough experience, you can apply for a pilot-in-command position.
